Denise Louis Relax for Change Hypnosis

Credentials:

I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, family social science and dental hygiene. I earned my hypnosis certification from the National Guild of Hypnotists (the largest hypnosis organization). I’m a member in good standing, abide by the code of ethics of the National Guild, and fulfill continuing-education requirements.

I have a strong background in health care. Early in my career I worked as a hospital unit coordinator (HUC) after attending a technical college. I gained experience throughout the entire health-care facility where I was employed (including the pharmacy, mental health, chemical dependency, and medical/surgical units).

I’m a practicing dental hygienist, and I have worked and lived in the local community for more than twenty years.

My hypnosis session appointments are on Wednesdays here at the Center. I schedule consulting-Helping your Patients Relax (geared for dental practices especially)-on Wednesdays and Fridays. I also speak to groups about hypnosis.

What the service is:

Hypnosis is a tool that can provide empowerment for self-change. It’s essentially guided concentration, in a natural state of heightened awareness. It feels similar to when you first wake up in the morning, somewhere between light sleep and being fully alert. You are in a comfortable position in a recliner chair, relaxed and awake. There is no need for concern regarding saying or doing anything against your will. The session is designed for you, and your concerns. Allow at least  two hours for your appointment.

How hypnosis works:

Our conscious minds are analytical and critical and act as a barrier or filter to our subconscious(below conscious awareness). During hypnosis the conscious part of the mind gets to take a little break, which allows the subconscious to be more available to provide insights and more open to accepting positive suggestions for change.

Beliefs, values, emotion, creativity, imagination, and all experiences are held within the brilliant subconscious part of the mind. I use guided relaxation and guided imagery during the session. Clients are provided with instructions for a simple and effective relaxation technique to use at home.

What hypnosis is used for:

Hypnosis has a long list of uses. It’s popular for help with quitting smoking and losing weight and is used for issues related to sleep, stress, nervousness, self confidence, and fears; preparing for childbirth, before and after dental and medical procedures, pain management, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, symptoms associated with chemotherapy, and other health-related concerns; enhancing motivation, creativity, sports and other performance, setting and achieving goals... and the list goes on.

Hypnosis isn’t a magic fix for problems, but it can help improve and often resolve a vast array of issues and concerns.

The number of sessions is decided by you with my guidance. Often clients only have one session.

Payment is made with cash or check at the end of the session.
